Photo Apps Are a Dime a Dozen - How Do You Choose Which One is Right for You?
People love Instagram, and swear by it as a tool for promoting business. I’ve been a casual user for a while, but had not spent the time to fully understand how it could be leveraged as part of a successful content marketing strategy.
As I jump in, dig in, dive in to Instagram, I am learning the ins and outs of the platform and how it can be super powerful for marketing - if you do it right.
First, Instagram is a visual platform. You need to engage your audience visually. Which means photos and images.
Second, Instagram is about fresh. It seems to benefit from new, um, instant, images. So you need to be able to share your images from wherever you are, and that may not always be at your computer, or in your office.
So, I took one for the team and downloaded five of the top-rated photo editing apps for iPhone.
Here are my favorites in order of preference:
This is not a fancy app. This is EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY. And, as such, it is not visually complex.
That said, you can edit photos, create simple word images, draw pictures or write words, create GIFs, and create flipograms.
Check out our GIF,
and our flipogram of some groovy office time….we kind of love this tool!
This is a fun photo app that lets you apply some truly groovy filters to your images. This guy can take a fairly average and dull image and spice it up with texture, color, frames, etc.
I find the tints to be more interesting than other apps, and there are more of them. Fun. Example to the left.
THIS is the best app that we have found for adding text to your images in cool, fun, and inspiring ways.
Font Candy has a decent variety of fonts available, and it is SUPER easy to use. They also have a variety of filters and artwork that you can use to make your images pop. Since sharing quotes is one of the easiest ways to quickly engage followers, Font Candy is a great tool to get you creating, quick!
The app appears to be a straightforward picture editing tool with the same features as some of the others.
What I like and did not find elsewhere is the double exposure, picture layering feature. This is silly fun and worth the app to give it a try. You can create dynamic, layered pics that are unusual and interesting. I am sure that the more trained Rookie App user can do some pretty cool stuff with it. Check it out!
Let the Instagram fun continue!
I’ve been having a lot of fun using interesting images on Instagram, and it’s great to see what people respond to. Check out these apps (and our Instagram: instagram.com/breezyhillmktg/) and let us know what you think! Is there a fantastic Instagram app that we aren’t aware of?? Tell us about it!
Thanks for stopping by,
